Hey there!

My name is Megan and I am a bodyworker + movement therapist who is passionate about simple solutions to life’s most common aches and pains. My work is rooted in the belief that we can do the most good in the world when we feel most aligned inside.

Over the course of my 20 years teaching movement and 10 years practicing Structural Integration, I have curated a collection of techniques that have proven effective in treating daily discomforts - for over a 1000 clients.

These techniques focus on engaging with the nervous system to settle the entire body and restore neutral posture. This is the most effective, efficient and sustaining way at relieving discomfort and improving function for any type of body.

Interested? Book a session (in person or online), or take a look through my online educational material. I’ve got videos, classes, and handouts of various lengths, levels and prices. Something for everyone.

Less is More.

Take 10 steps back.

Know your resources and your limits.

Set your intention and your goal.

Use your environment to your advantage.

An aligned body will self heal.

True healing radiates.

MY BACKGROUND

I am educated in both the traditional styles of Rolfing passed down by my father, an Advanced Rolfer of 40+ years, as well as the teachings modern SI schools informed by evolving clinical and scientific discovery. My fascial manipulation work integrates principles and techniques from traditional Chinese and Japanese medicine (handed down by my mother, a Naturopathic Physician & Physician of Chinese Medicine), Craniosacral Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, traditional and modern bone setting, and Somatic Experiencing. My movement therapy + movement education work is informed by decades of personal practice in an extensive blend of methods and forms. (See below for a thorough list of relevant experience)

Combining this toolkit with an eye for body mechanics and structural assessment, my work approaches the client with the general aim to bring as much balance to the entire system as it can assimilate (or integrate). Open dialogue is maintained with clients from intake through follow-up, and every step is an informative back-and-forth process. In this way, space is created for collaboration and adaptive strategizing, making each client’s experience uniquely tailored. Movement education is folded organically into bodywork in order to bolster awareness and create opportunities to practice self care strategies under guided supervision. In this way, treatments are personalized, client-centric, and designed to sustain a more comfortable baseline throughout day-to-day life for years to come.

As a second generation practitioner, I have been studying the body through the lens of heath and its care - in one way or another - all of my life. And when my studies in movement began at 5 years old, I cracked a door that hasn’t shut yet. Somewhere along the way, my explorations of these fields sandwiched between a degree in medical anthropology. It was during that time that I became intrigued by the nature of the patient-provider relationship, and inspired to help break down barriers to effective care through a fundamental shift in the way we approach health and illness in American society today.

MY WORK

In working with clients, the most common things I hear people asking for help with are pain, posture, and personal transformation. Treating pain is like extinguishing a burning building - the fire has to be put out before anything else can happen. Treating posture can involve pain management and have goals toward personal transformation, but it primarily requires that the client be motivated and willing to modify ingrained habits on a day-to-day basis.Standing alongside someone on their personal transformation journey is quite different. Someone may come in on the basis of pain management and end up making huge personal transformations, but the client arriving with the goal for personal transformation has likely done considerable work toward this goal prior to arriving. In each of these situations, clients find me because they are looking for help with something other methods have not fulfilled. My job is to help put the pieces of the puzzle together to understand the complete picture - and to provide strategies to work with what we find. It’s a process of curiosity, discovery and transformation.

Daily awareness practices surrounding posture and somatics are the foundation of my educational and mobility work with clients. What we do on a day-to-day basis will always outweigh time spent with a practitioner. Learning to apply healthy habits on a habitual level provides a foundation to get the most out of any type of additional self care - nutrition, athletics, restfulness/meditation, bodywork, etc.

Helping clients and students expand their self care resources and build what I like to call our individual Self Care Toolkits has been the most accessible, effective, sustaining and affordable way to help clients help themselves on the broadest, truest and most organic level.
