Releasing the Vagus Nerve

Did you know?? The 10th set of cranial nerves are named for their "wandering" pathways, reaching from the brain stem to control a truly wide range of functions including breath, heart rate, the gut-brain connection, relaxation, inflammation and even memory! I made a cognitive connection with my vagus nerve when I went searching the web for a cure for the intractable (and painful!) bout of hiccups I was experiencing at the time. I perused the results and found a number of helpful articles indicating that VAGUS was accessible through pulling the tongue and that doing so (slowly and consistently for about a minute) could actually stimulate the nerve to settle the respiratory diaphragm (spasms of which define hiccuping)... and it worked!!!

To top it off, I stumbled across this:

The VIKINGS did the tongue pull too! Amazing 💛

I got so thrilled by vagal releasling and toning work that I studied oodles and oodles…and then created a whole workshop! If you’re interested, check out my LEARN ONLINE section.
